Leverage point in high-performance work systems

Abstract Drawing on systems theory, this paper aims to search for a leverage point in high-performance work system (HPWS) wherein small change of constituent part significantly enhances the effect whole organizational performance (OP). Based meta-analysis 59,207 firms and establishments from 240 sample studies up December 2021, examines HPWS composition, coupled with country origin industrial affiliation, HPWS–OP relationship. The finds that training development serves as strengthen synergy HPWS. However, works advanced countries rather than developing countries, service industries manufacturing industries. finding indicates is not omnipresent, but contingent affiliation. This study has practical implications managers, highlighting importance relationship contingency nature point.
